About Me

Background

I was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. So of course I love to ski and explore the beauty of nature. My favorite thing to do in the evening is relax and watch the New Mexico sunset. In high school, I was a student athlete. My sports were soccer, hockey, and track. I graduated from Taos High School and went to UNM. Everyone's a lobo! Woof, woof, woof! I earned a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Environmental Science and an M.A. in Secondary Education. I have two amazing children of my own. My oldest is a girl and my youngest is a boy. I am also an animal lover with several pets at home and in the classroom. The most famous pets in the classroom are the red-ear slider turtles.

As a Teacher

I started teaching in the 2007-2008 school year. I have taught a variety of classes from Biology, Analytical Biology, AP Biology, Integrated Chemistry and Physics, and Environmental Studies. I have a passion for teaching students and a reputation for going above and beyond to help students. If a student shows up during lunch or after school for help, they usually have my undivided attention. There is never a point in the semester when it is impossible to pass my class. It can sometimes be an overwhelming amount of work, but it's possible. on the other hand, I have a low tolerance for students who do not do their work or do their own work, which happens increasingly more often because of cellphones.
